They aren't too heavy that you lose all sensitivity and they aren't too light that you cant land the occasional big fish. They are perfect for medium to larger sized rivers and lakes with medium sized 2-8lb (10"-21" fish) and the occasionally larger trout, bass, panfish, etc. They are very versatile and can be used an array of fishing techniques and locations. If you are looking for a good crossover rod this is a great choice. These rods are especially good for windy conditions or where streamers are being used and more casting power is needed than a 5wt.
